Random Houseguest Generator is an interactive video installation playfully addressing experiences of inclusion and exclusion as a commentary on arbitrary decision-making. Viewers are able to ring a doorbell of a small house. Inside is a video of myself, randomly inviting or rejecting the visitors as dinner guests. Those who were invited came to my house for an actual dinner party. Random Houseguest Generator was created in response to capricious immigration policies of the United States. The installation was created for the 2016 Burchfield Penney’s GOLDEN exhibit.
