Cricket Man
Located at the intersection of climate change, sustainability, and food, Cricket Man is a documentary currently in production about Nicholas Alexander, a cricket breeder from New York State, and Buffalo State students who are creating branding campaigns about his “perfect protein powder.” As the director (and professor of media production at Buffalo State), I am collaborating with my students on this project. The students write the branding campaigns and help film them. Their campaigns will be interwoven with Nicholas’s moving story of overcoming both health challenges and obstacles as a one-man entrepreneur trying to establish an unusual product. Cricket Man sparks an essential, timely, and sometimes humorous discussion about climate change, sustainability, and insects as food. This project is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
